Founder Leira started with a goal to work in the automotive industry, then shifted into software engineering through Capital One's CODA program and built a career in tech.

During her remote job search from Puerto Rico, many companies would not hire talent based on the island, even for remote roles.
From spreadsheet to platform
Leira first shared a public spreadsheet of companies that could hire in Puerto Rico. Community demand transformed that list into Mofongo Jobs.
The mission remains the same

Founder of Mofongo Jobs and software engineer focused on helping Puerto Rican talent access better opportunities.
Leira is a mechanical engineer turned software engineer. She previously worked at Capital One, Welcome, and Jam before launching Mofongo Jobs.
Her personal job-search experience from Puerto Rico revealed a major hiring gap for island-based candidates, which led her to create resources and eventually this platform.
